Giveth House

A home for Web3 builders and communities — a living space for collaboration, experimentation, and connection in the heart of Barcelona.

Story

Giveth House began as a simple idea: in a world where most Web3 collaboration happens online, people still need real spaces to meet, share a table, and build trust. The house opened its doors in 2017, shortly after the creation of the Giveth project in 2016, as a physical anchor for a global, open, and collaborative community.

Since then, it has quietly served as a meeting point for contributors across the decentralized ecosystem. People arrive for conferences, collaborations, or a few weeks of focused work — and often leave with new friendships, new projects, and a deeper connection to the community.

Community

Giveth House is a shared home, coworking space, and community hub where developers, researchers, organizers, DAO contributors, and visitors passing through Barcelona come together to work and live side by side.

Over the years, the house has welcomed people connected to projects like Ethereum Foundation, Arbitrum, Starknet, Dappnode, Fuel Labs, dOrg, Vocdoni, Talent Layer, General Magic, and many others. Some stay for a few days, others for weeks — the common thread is a shared curiosity about building new systems for coordination, cooperation, and collective impact.

On any given week, the house might host people who are here to:

  • live temporarily while visiting Barcelona
  • cowork with other builders and teams
  • host workshops, talks, or small meetups
  • collaborate on open-source and public goods projects
  • gather informally to share ideas and experiences

More than just accommodation, the house acts as a Schelling point for the Web3 ecosystem — a place where collaborations, friendships, and new ideas emerge naturally.

Values

Giveth House is rooted in the values that shaped the early Ethereum ecosystem. It is not a polished coworking space or a startup office, but a deliberately human space shaped by:

  • openness
  • cooperation
  • experimentation
  • freedom of thought
  • community governance and shared responsibility

Many people describe the house as solar-punk — optimistic, collaborative, and oriented toward building better systems together. It is a place where people cook together, share ideas late into the night, host spontaneous gatherings, and sometimes sketch the beginnings of new projects on a whiteboard.

Stewardship

Since 2022, the house has been stewarded by Franco Ruiz, who coordinates guest stays, maintains the space, organizes activities, and supports collaborations between residents and visitors.

Stewardship is a continuous act of care: keeping the doors open, tending to the shared space, and making sure the house remains welcoming and sustainable for everyone who passes through.

Support the House

Giveth House exists because the community chooses to support it. Donations from contributors across the ecosystem help cover the practical realities of maintaining a shared space — rent, utilities, maintenance, and operations.

The long-term vision is for the house to remain:

  • a home for visiting contributors
  • a meeting point for Web3 communities
  • a place for experimentation and collaboration
  • a welcoming entry point for new builders

Ultimately, the house exists to strengthen the human connections that power decentralized networks. Every contribution helps keep this small but meaningful corner of the Web3 ecosystem alive.
